Day 38 of ceasefire
US President Donald Trump said his patience with Iran was running out after he discussed the costly and unpopular war with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.
Trump said Jinping had offered China’s help to open the Strait of Hormuz and pledged not to send military equipment to aid Iran in its war against the US and Israel.
Iranian media reported Thursday that naval forces had allowed a group of Chinese ships to pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz since the night before.
An Indian-flagged ship transporting was attacked off the Oman coast. The crew members were rescued by Omani authorities. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed that this attack constitutes a grave threat to the safety of international navigation.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on his 5-nation tour today, starting with UAE, where talks are expected to centre around trade and closure of Hormuz.
